about innovationThe Feed the Future Kenya Innovation Engine program harnesses innovations that will generate significant increases in household incomes and nutrition. From the American people through USAID/Kenya, the Innovation Engine serves as a mechanism for proactively seeking ideas and concepts that have the potential to transform Kenya's agricultural landscape.

The Innovation Engine aims to build on Kenya's latent innovative capacity for innovation to address persistent hunger and increase resiliency among the rural poor. Kenya holds a high potential for innovation, as noted by the World Economic Forum in its Global Competitiveness Report 2012-2013, with the country gaining one of the strongest scores in innovation and sophistication for a developing country - 50th position out of 144 countries surveyed.

about us

Kenya is one of 19 strategic country partners under Feed the Future, the United States Presidential global hunger and food security initiative.

As a whole-of-government engagement led by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Feed the Future supports country-driven approaches to sustain-ably alleviate chronic hunger, raise the incomes of the rural poor and reduce the number of children and women suffering from under-nutrition.

Feed the Future aims to assist 18 million vulnerable women, children and family members globally - mostly smallholder farmers - escape hunger and poverty.

To achieve our goal, this effort focuses on increasing agricultural productivity, enhancing livelihoods, driving economic growth and countering sub-optimal nutrition.
